About us

The crew

Maxime Buhry

Originally from Bordeaux, Maxime is 34 years old and already has six years’ experience as a skipper. His career path has led him to take up the profession independently, which has enabled him to sail organising cruises, convoying and various events in the Atlantic, English Channel, Mediterranean and New Caledonia.

Marianne Ramazotti

Marianne, 33, grew up in Corsica and started light sailing at the age of 12. At the age of 25, she moved to Reunion Island, where she was very involved in a sailing school, sailing yachts and regattas, and one thing led to another and she decided to make it her profession. A bit of chartering, a diversion into fishing, and here she is back in mainland France with Rémi to embark on the Sailcoop adventure!

The shuttle

Naval architects VPLP were chosen to take on the challenge of designing an innovative 80-passenger shuttle. The aim was to create an ultra-light, sleek catamaran with a focus on energy efficiency.
The catamaran is the most appropriate type of boat for achieving a high level of performance without being too imposing. It is light, with a high-performance and rigid hull design for better transmission of wind energy. These shuttles are designed to sail in variable wind conditions, with the ability to deploy their sails at specific angles. This makes it possible to achieve high levels of decarbonation, 85 to 95%, autonomy under sail from 6 knots of wind and a cruising speed of 8 knots.

Features

Length: 18.6m. This is the best performance compromise we could find.
Width: 8.5m, for a large living area without sacrificing performance.
A large, optimised sail area: 185 m2 upwind and 285 m2 beam, in collaboration with All Purpose.
A combustion engine: with the promise of electric motors, we decided to equip our yacht with a combustion engine. The extra weight of the batteries needed to power the electric motor was such that we were losing a lot of performance when sailing.

Voilà Sailcoop

Like a matter of course, we’ll take you to your holiday destination.
Sailcoop is a simple and effective way of thinking about travel, a way of reconnecting with the elements, taking the time to travel with the wind.
Under sail.

Here’s Les Glénan, to reach this Breton archipelago aboard a comfortable 18-metre catamaran specially designed to carry passengers.

Voilà Corsica, since 2022, on comfortable 50-foot monohulls, 8 passengers and 2 skippers, for a 15 to 18-hour sail between St-Raphaël and Calvi, in one direction or the other…

And soon, Brazil, the West Indies and the USA… The adventure is just beginning.

We’ve dreamt of it, that’s all.

Sailcoop

Founded in 2021, the Sailcoop cooperative’s mission is to offer low-carbon alternatives, wherever possible and thanks to the wind, to maritime passenger transport.

After opening its first route between the mainland and Corsica, carrying more than 1,200 passengers in two seasons, the team decided to focus on short-distance links by designing a catamaran for regular passenger transport, in a consortium with VPLP Design and Chantier de l’Arsenal.

Supported by more than 2,500 members, the team, based in Lorient, Vannes, Marseille and Paris, is working hard to develop new routes and also to get the transport industry moving and accelerate its ecological transition.

In this way, Sailcoop is positioning itself as an operator for passengers, a regional player in the economy, and a militant player devoted body and sails to the preservation of our common home.

It’s a great adventure, and you can be part of it by becoming a member. Visit Sailcoop to find out more.
